David Wineland OD

Dr. Dave Wineland has been in private practice for 40 years and joined Ohio Eye Associates in 2025 to better serve Knox County. He graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1984, where he earned special recognition in Low Vision and Pediatric Care in Vision Therapy.


Dr. Wineland has always embraced new technologies, with a special interest in treating glaucoma, macular degeneration, lazy eye, vision therapy, and brain injuries affecting the eyes. He is a member of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association, the American Optometric Association, and the Ohio Optometric Association. He has also volunteered with Ohio Real Eyes Children’s Education Program, Vision USA, and Lifeline Mission’s eye medical team in Haiti.


Known as “Dr. Dave” to his patients, he enjoys spending time with his four active grandchildren. He lives on 10 acres of scenic country property, where he raises chickens for fun and fresh eggs with his wife, Tracy, of 44 years. Dr. Dave still plays competitive hockey and coached with his sons in Columbus, Cleveland, and Newark. He was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and former assistant scoutmaster. Other hobbies include hunting and fishing and volunteering with the National Exchange Club.
