David Wineland, OD
Dr. Dave Wineland has been in private practice for 40 years and joined with Ohio Eye Associates in 2025 to better serve Knox County. Dr. Wineland graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology in 1981 and earned his Doctorate of Optometry degree at The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1984. Dr. Wineland earned special recognition in Low Vision and Pediatric Care in Vision Therapy.
He always enjoys new technologies with special interests in treating glaucoma, macular degeneration, ocular motor problems including lazy eye, vision therapy, and brain injuries affecting the eye and visual symptoms. Dr. Wineland is a member of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association, America Optometric Association, and Ohio Optometric Association. He has volunteered with Ohio Real Eyes Children’s education program, Vision USA, and Lifeline Christian Mission to Haiti eye medical team.
Dr. Dave, as he likes to be called, enjoys spending time with his four active grandkids and family. He lives on 10 acres of country living raising chickens for fun with his wife Tracy of 44 years. He still plays competitive hockey with his sons in Columbus, Cleveland, and Newark. He enjoyed his time coaching in-line hockey, being an Assistant Scoutmaster/Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and continues to volunteer with the National Exchange Club.
